2010 All-Ireland SHC Quarter-final: Cork defeat Antrim...

Cork 1-25 Antrim 0-19 (Final Score)

Cork are into the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship semi-final after beating a brave Antrim side. They will now play defending champions Kilkenny in two weeks time.

Pre-Match Note:
Cork take on Antrim in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship quarter-final at Croke Park. Antrim have never beaten Cork in the Championship. The most famous meeting of Cork and Antrim hurlers in Croke Park was the All-Ireland final of 1943. Having defeated both Kilkenny and Galway en route, the Northerners hoped to bring the Liam MacCarthy Cup across to Ulster for the first time, but it was not to be and the contest ended in a 22-point rout for the Leesiders, led by their 18-year-old-captain Mick Kennefick.

The two counties met again in 2004 – Brian Corcoran’s two goals leaving Cork ahead 2-13 to 0-3 at halftime. Cork, with all six forwards scoring, added another 13 points in the second half, while Antrim scored ten.

Match Note:
Cork's Paudie Sullivan hit the first point of the match from 13 metres, within the first minute of play.

Cathal Naughton scored a goal for Cork in injury-time of the first half.

Antrim's Liam Watson was sent off after receiving a second yellow card in the final five minutes of the game.
