2010 All-Ireland SHC Quarter-final: Galway narrowly lose to Tipperary...

Galway 3-16 Tipperary 3-17

Galway suffered a gut-wrenching defeat to Tipperary in the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship quarter-final at Croke Park. The Premier county win sets up a semi-final showdown with provincial rivals Waterford.

Half-Time: Galway 1-09 Tipperary 1-08

Pre-Match:
Galway's Cyril Donnellan has a hand injury and will not start.

Galway manager John McIntyre has made three changes to the side that lost the Leinster final to Kilkenny for today's All-Ireland SHC quarter-final against Tipperary at Croke Park.

Former minor star David Burke returns from suspension to replace Adrian Cullinane at midfield, while Eanna Ryan and Cyril Donnellan come into the attack in place of Aidan Harte and Aonghus Callanan.

Tony Og Regan continues at centre back with John Lee still not back to full fitness.

Galway XV: C Callanan; D Joyce, S Kavanagh, O Canning; D Barry, T Og Regan, D Collins; G Farragher, D Burke; E Ryan, C Donnellan, A Smith; D Hayes, J Canning, I Tannian.

Tipperary boss Liam Sheedy has named the same 15 which ousted Offaly for this match against Galway.

It means that Paul Curran and Conor O'Mahony occupy the centre positions of defence again at full-back and centre-back, respectively, while David Young partners Brendan Maher in the middle of the field.

The one positional change comes in attack as Shane McGrath is named at left half-forward and Patrick Maher starts on 'the 40'.

Thurles Sarsfields ace Lar Corbett leads the line from full-forward, where he is flanked by Noel McGrath and Eoin Kelly in the corners.

Tipperary XV: B Cummins; P Stapleton, P Curran, M Cahill; D Fanning, C O'Mahony, P Maher; B Maher, D Young; G Ryan, P Maher, S McGrath; N McGrath, L Corbett, E Kelly.
