Kilkenny's Henry Sheflin hit a total of 1-06 for his side in the first half.
Half-Time Score: Kilkenny 2-12 Waterford 1-09
The Deise got the second half off to a great start with another goal from Shane Walsh. However, Kilkenny maintained their lead with consistent scoring from Sheflin. He got another 8 points in the second half for the Cats to bring his tally for the day to 1-14.
Waterford's Eoin Kelly got a goal from a 65 yards free in the 64th minute, but it wasn't enough for the Deise to mount a serious comeback.
Kilkenny ran out worthy winners in the end. The Cats will face the winners of the other SHC semi-final between Limerick and Tipperary.
