Galway did just about enough to beat a defiant New York team in the Connacht Senior Football Championship preliminary round. New York were reduced to 13 men in the second half.
Padraig Joyce's first touch of the ball was put into the back of the net for a goal for Galway. The goal came within the first two minutes of the match.

New York's Dan Doona, Joe Bell, Pat Madden, Brendan Mc Gourty, Lorcan Maguire and Johney Murtage picked up yellow cards in the match. Pat Madden was sent off in the 48th minute after receiving a second yellow card. Johney Murtage was sent off in the 53rd minute after receiving his second yellow card.
Galway's Diarmuid Blake and Gary Sice each picked up a yellow card in the 58th and 59th minute, respectively.
Galway had 12 wides in the match.
Cormac Bane scored a goal for Galway in the closing seconds of the match, to put a bit of respectability on the scoreline.
Man of the Match was Padraig Joyce, who scored 1-7 for Galway.
