Conor Beirne's second-half goal gave Leitrim a surprise victory over Sligo at Markievicz Park.
Leitrim were the better team in the first half and were full value for their half-time lead, 0-8 to 0-5.
With seven championship debutants in their side, Leitrim showed no fear of the 2010 provincial finalists and they were deserving victors on the day.
