All-Ireland SHC Leinster Championship 2011: Antrim defeat Laois...

Antrim 1-21
Laois 3-12

Antrim produced an astonishing second-half display to beat Laois in a Portlaoise thriller.

It represented a historic victory for Antrim as it's their first-ever win in the Leinster SHC. The victors will face Wexford at the quarter-final stage.

Neil McManus was very much their hero with a return of 0-10 (including seven frees and a 65), but in truth it was an exemplary all-round performance from the northerners.

This preliminary-round match looked set to go in Laois' favor when the winners had Neil McAuley dismissed after 40 minutes but never-say-die Antrim scored sixteen times during the second period while restricting the hosts to just six scores.

Second-quarter goals from Neil Foyle and Willie Hyland had Laois ahead by 2-7 to 1-5 at half time, after Simon McCrory had struck a sixth-minute major for the underdogs.
