This nine point victory for Galway over Westmeath does not tell the full story of this Leinster GAA Hurling Championship quarter final in Cusack Park (Sat 6/4/11). A hat-rick of goals from Cyril Donnellan proved to be key for John McIntyre’s men to progress to the next round.
As for 2010 Christy Ring Cup champions, Westmeath came into this contest on the back of a first round surprise 4-10 to 1-14 victory over Carlow.
The Tribesmen will now face Dublin at the semi-final stage in two weeks.
