Laois defeated Longford in a drab encounter at Portlaoise. The O'Moore County advance to a quarter-final meeting with Dublin.
At the end of a first half spoiled by the wet and windy conditions, Laois led by 0-6 to 0-4. Longford gave as good as they got in that opening period but some of their shooting left a lot to be desired.
