Down got a big win against a disappointing Derry side at Casement Park.
The first half was evenly contested but goals from Gareth Johnston and Paul Braniff in the third and seventh minutes respectively had the winners ahead by 2-7 to 1-6 at the interval, with Alan Grant firing to the net for Derry after Graham Clarke had saved well from Paddy Henry.
With Antrim no longer playing in the province Down remain red-hot favourites to take the Ulster crown.
