Galway 2-18 Clare 1-11
Galway were below par, but were effective enough in disposing of Clare in this SHC qualifiers match. It was only Galway's third win over Clare in the history of their Championship encounters.
The Tribesmen's John Lee had an outstanding game in center-back position and was Man of the Match.
The Banner county missed a penalty on the 26th minute. Galway's Cyril Donnellan got their first goal on the 30th minute mark. Joe Canning has seven points (0-6f) for Galway.
Galway's captain Ollie Canning went off injured, along with Adrian Cullinane. It was reported post-match that Canning has blurred vision. He maybe doubtful for their next qualifiers match.
Clare were reduced to 14 men when their captain Brian O'Donnell was sent off in the 57th minute, for an elbow challenge on Cyril Donnellan. Donnellan was replaced by a blood substitute.
Galway will now meet Cork next weekend in the next phase of the qualifiers, while Clare will go home thinking about next year's championship.
