Galway full-back Shane Kavanagh has been ruled out for up to six weeks after breaking a bone in his hand in the All Ireland Qualifier win over Cork on Saturday.
The news will come as a bitter blow to the Tribesmen, who lost another key defender, wing-back Adrian Cullinane, to a cruciate knee injury last week.
Galway boss John McIntyre reported that Kavanagh will be seeing a specialist later this week to see if he will need surgery.
